I enjoy capturing images of things that are around us every day, but we often don’t take
the time to truly see them. I like to think of it as finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
My photos are all taken with a digital camera, but are not cropped, enhanced or modified
in any way. My personal approach is to rely on the camera, photographer, subject… and
The moment.

Currently my artistic stomping ground is the area where
I live: Northern California. Even with an ever-growing population, there
is an accessible abundance of beautiful
nature that provides
seemingly endless inspiration. Now, part of every local trip includes
some time for me to take pictures. Luckily, my family has learned to
be patient! My photo gallery
includes flower and scenery photos from Lake Tahoe, the Lake Almanor
and Lassen Park area, the Feather River, Mendocino, the Napa Valley,
Carmel, and many public and private gardens in and around Davis, California.
The UC Davis Arboretum is another big contributor throughout the year,
but especially in the springtime.
Several years ago I came across some very old window sashes that had been removed from a recent remodeling
job. After having one fitted at a frame shop so that it could hold individual
photos, I discovered my next obsession. I find the raw material for my
Windowpane Pictures™ all over the United States, and each one has
its own story to tell. I am very excited to be preserving a small piece
of architectural history…and keeping these windows from potentially
ending up in the local landfill.
I have several cameras, but my surprising favorite is the Olympus Camedia
C-740 Ultra Zoom digital camera. It is the point-and-shoot variety with
manual overrides. As I mentioned on my home page, I don’t crop,
adjust the lighting, or otherwise enhance any of the pictures on my website.
The C-740 has a great lens with a 10x optical zoom and a fantastic macro
focus capability. I find this camera to be the best so far at capturing
true colors and lighting. It seems to see the world mostly as I see it
through the viewfinder.
Thank you for letting me share my photography passion with you…I
would be grateful if you would forward this site to your friends and
family. Also, please drop me a line if you want to comment on my photos
or my website. Art, like life, is always a work in progress so I welcome
your comments.
